Is a computer program similar to a Geographic Information System (GIS), the company created by Keyhole Inc., which lets you view 3D images of the planet, combining satellite imagery, maps and the Google search engine that lets you view images scale of a specific place on the planet.
Development
Keyhole was originally a payment schedule until October 27, 2004 was bought by Google. On May 21, 2005 Keyhole was renamed Google Earth. This program was launched (relaunched when taking into account that already existed as Keyhole) on June 28, 2005 with the main novelty, apart from the change of name and ownership, that the program had a free version (as opposed Keyhole payment was in all versions, although it was possible to have a trial version for a limited time). This program also incorporates Google Maps and Google Earth that helps him find the streets, avenues and businesses and more in a very readable.
Google Sky - Sky Mode
On August 22, 20071 was launched version 4.2 of Google Earth, which incorporates a tool to explore the sky, seeing stars, galaxies and astronomical images. Google Sky is a Google product resulting from an agreement with the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore, the Hubble's operations center. The new version provides images published in 2007, taken by Hubble's cameras. The "Way of Heaven" can display the constellations, stars, galaxies and animations that show the planets and their orbits plotted.
This program incorporates a tutorial section to follow and learn more about these constellations, galaxies, stars and planets more remarkable.
It can also display the shuttle launched by NASA and the space station.
Mars and Moon
The latest version (5.0) of Google Earth allow users to view 3D images of the Moon and Mars, as well as providing interactive content, guided tours and the ability to view images in very high resolution and being able to see models 3D satellite modules or probes found on the surface of these stars. Being the 3D models, you can see craters, mountain ranges, canyons and volcanoes from all angles more or less faithful to reality.
On Mars, you have the option of following the paths of vehicles, or the ability to participate in an interactive tour around the planet, seeing sights such as Mount Olympus (Mars). You can also view images from NASA a few hours after they are downloaded.
On the Moon: it is possible to see the scenes of the missions of the Apollo program, with 3D models of spacecraft missions, and photos that can distinguish the footprints of the astronauts. It is also possible to view pictures or videos unpublished when the Apollo missions landed.
Features
Google Earth allows you to enter a hotel name, school or street and get the exact address, or view a map of the place. You can also view satellite images of the planet. It also offers 3D features such as bulk to valleys and mountains, and in some cities even have shaped buildings. The way to move on the screen is easy and intuitive, with simple dashboards and manageable.
In addition, you can share with other users, links measure geographic distances, see the height of the mountains, do faults or volcanoes and change the view horizontally or vertically.
Google Earth also provides connection to GPS (Global Positioning System) data feed from file and database in their paid versions.
It also has a flight simulator in Google Earth real enough that you can fly anywhere in the world.
Version 4 has added significant enhancements:
Interface in English, Spanish, French and German.
Have a relationship with Google SketchUp, a 3D modeling program from which you can upload 3D models of buildings to Google Earth.
Dashboard interfering wins more discreet and space for displaying images.
Improvements that allow you to view 3D images "textured" (more realistic surfaces, windows, bricks ...)
Version three major operating systems for personal computers (Windows, Linux, and MAC)
Include links to Wikipedia articles in English cities, monuments, geography, and other points of interest.
